I was fortunate enough to grow up immersed in both paranormal and metaphysical studies.  My mom has served as both guide and inspiration for me throughout my journey and I am blessed to have had her support in creating what would be become one of the most credible paranormal research groups in Virginia.  SHPS began as a small idea among friends, and I am honored to have been a part of its immense growth.  I am especially proud of our Senior Investigators, who have dedicated their time, energy and resources to making SHPS the success it has become.  Legitimacy and integrity have always been our core values and I am thankful to have had such talented, intelligent and motivated people come through our circle.  I have always considered SHPS a gateway to wisdom, experience and understanding and I believe it has been just that for many people, whether they are still with us or have passed through our gates on to other journeys.

I have been investigating the paranormal in one way or another since I was very young and grew up in a haunted house. My parents purchased a house cheaply from the estate of a murder victim and I grew used to having a ‘houseguest’ around most of the time. He was friendly enough and I was never afraid of him.

I attended the University of London which was founded by Rahere, the jester for King Henry 2nd. Rahere died in 1144 so the buildings are a little old! Ghosts abounded and I enjoyed my occasional encounters with them.

I have been a member of investigative groups in America and England since 1981 and have been fortunate enough to have had many experiences that I am unable to explain. Being an RN I have a scientific background and I am hard to convince. I accept evidence of paranormal activity only when no other explanation exists.

The paranormal covers a myriad of subjects and my interests are many and varied within this field. Cryptozoology & UFOs rate high on my list along with research into ghosts and spiritual activity.

I dislike the term ‘ghost hunter’. This demeans the research that we undertake and the deceased persons that are involved in it. All ghosts are someone’s beloved parent, child or spouse and deserve our respect.

I strongly believe that if we are ever to elevate our passionate interest in all things paranormal beyond the realm of ‘quasi science’ we must confine ourselves to presenting only verifiable evidence and using only evidence – based practices. Personal experiences – although interesting, cannot be proven and are therefore worthless as evidence.
