I-Team

Meet the SHPS investigation team:

IMG_3588bTara Bryant:  Founder, Case Manager, Lead Investigator

I am fortunate to have been introduced to paranormal phenomenon and the metaphysical community very early in life; my mom and fellow I-team member, Annette, made it a duty to expose me to a non-traditional education among astrologers, intuitives, healers, and an eclectic array of esoteric individuals and organizations.  I began seriously studying metaphysics around the age of 15, and naturally moved into the paranormal field shortly after.  I find it funny that I consider myself a “hopeful skeptic” rather than a believer, given my early influences, but I was also always taught to question everything, and to form my own opinions based on my personal experiences.  I am very proud to be a part of SHPS, and to see so many people grow from their own experiences in the quest for personal truth.

AnnetteAnnette Overstreet:  Senior Investigator

My interest in the paranormal and metaphysical worlds started as a child when I became captivated with the mysteries of ancient civilizations. Around the age of 10, it became UFO’s, and in my 20’s I was introduced to the Edgar Cayce materials. In my 30’s, I attended parapsychology classes and PSI seminars when New Age metaphysics were first being born.  I have never seen, nor do I particularly want to see, a ghost, although I do suspect spirit involvement in a deserted old house I played in as a child. My incredible mother encouraged my curiosity and taught me to question things and seek my own answers rather than blindly accept someone else’s. I am lucky to have a husband who tolerates my eccentricities and a daughter who shares my inquisitive nature. My whole life has been about learning, and there are still so many questions to be asked…and answered.

Rusty IRRusty Pickett:  Senior Investigator

I became interested in SHPS because of my love for history and a slight bend towards the unusual.  After hearing about some of the historical sites that the group has investigated, I decided I needed to be involved.  Only after joining did I realize that this is so much more than simply researching old buildings and taking pictures.  It has been a great, eye-opening experience for me.  SHPS is a very professional, well organized group to be involved with.

I have always been intrigued by the idea that there are entities, energies and forces that exist among us that we cannot identify. The fact that they have the ability to collect and use energy is fascinating, and kind of intimidating at the same time. I joined SHPS in the hopes to experience a sign of this existence, and an interaction between their world and ours. A combination of state of the art technology mixed with folklore keeps this science exciting at all times, and I look forward to each investigation as I am being plunged into the unknown.

wandaWanda Picket: Senior Investigator

I got into this field because I would like to find if there is really something or someone out there trying to communicate with us.  Also if human souls can remain trapped in this world, is there any way we can help them? I always have been interested in things that go bump in the night,  and SHPS is a great way to meet new people and see if we can help each other understand what might be going on with unexplained activity.

SHPS is a great group of people- we all have different things that we bring to the table to help figure out what is normal and what is paranormal!  I am glad I found this group to help me also understand what is out there.

Blue Wolf and HawkMark Taylor: Senior Investigator

I have always been interested in the paranormal. My Grandmother was a Healer in the Appalachian / Celtic tradition. The house we grew up in was full to overflowing with spirit energy. I saw ‘ghosts’ on many occasions as a child. As I grew up, I rejected the ’superstitions’ of my youth and turned to technology, namely electronics/engineering. As I’ve grown older, and hopefully wiser, I have had the calling to return to my roots and learn more about the ’spirit world’. At the same, my knowledge about Energy has grown to encompass both the physical and metaphysical. This group gives me a great opportunity to test what I’ve learned as we expand our knowledge of the paranormal.

JoyceJoyce Turner:  Senior Investigator

I have had unexplained experiences throughout my life.  Growing up, I was fortunate to have parents who did not dismiss my interest in the paranormal.  My dad’s mom use to claim there were ghosts in her basement, and his sister use to dabble with the Ouija board.  One of my great-uncles was a healer of sorts.  People would come from miles around to have him heal warts by placing his hand on them.   Being in SHPS, I have learned a lot about light, sound and equipment.   This group is very professional and well trained.

mandyMandy Belue: Senior Investigator

As long as I can remember I have always loved mystery books/films/tv.  Even though at first there seems to be no connection to the clues, these types of mysteries are eventually solved.  I am naturally drawn to the paranormal field because of my love of a good mystery, but the clues we find during investigations don’t always connect.  Some paranormal mysteries are solved by debunking, but others  are not and that’s what keeps me coming back for more.

Jennifer Adkins; Investigator

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with history and the unexplained. It wasn’t until recently that I decided to become a part of this community and expand my knowledge of the paranormal, and to better understand the science behind it all.  It’s a great group and I’m very much looking forward to our future investigations.

The paranormal is a subject that has always intrigued me. Other than reading about it, I never had any involvement with it until I joined my first group several years ago.  Through the years I learned a great deal about investigating and now, as a member of SHPS, I feel fortunate to be  with friendly and professional people with the same interest.

I started “ghost hunting” in elementary school. A childhood friend and I used to go around during twilight in the summers with our butterfly net, flashlights and toy cameras looking for ghosts. I was also surrounded by interesting family members growing up who talked about their experiences with spirits and strange things they saw and felt. I was taught and believe there is more to life than we see or understand. Couple all of this with an absolute love of history and it’s pretty easy to see why I’m interested in ghosts and the paranormal. While I flip back and forth between believing in ghosts and claiming instead that the imagination can be pretty powerful, I tend to cautiously believe more often than not. The scientific bent to modern paranormal investigation makes me believe more and more that ghosts indeed exist, though I’d love to know how or why.
